by Jay Behm -With at least 150 two car garage plans to offer, Behm Design is a great place to shop for that perfect garage. Footprint size is so often a critical factor in selection that we have created many garage plans to choose from. Even in the basic styles, customers have told us they want uneven as well as even dimensions so they can get the most allowable garage on their property within their limitations of space and size. So we developed lots of two car (as well as one car) plans to meet those needs and they have been quite popular.

As you can see below, we have developed two car garage plans in combination with apartments, shops, storage areas and lofts. We have also dressed up some of our plans with style elements to replicate or imitate popular historical styles, such as Craftsman, Victorian, Colonial and Modernist styles.

by Jay Behm - Two car garage plans by Behm Design are very popular and are available in many variations of sizes and styles - we offer at least (150) two car garage plans. Scroll through our huge selection - you may find your perfect garage. Be sure to check your vehicle overall dimensions and add a couple feet for walking around space on each side. Then add wall space or work space as preferred. This is usually most important if you have larger vehicles, trucks, etc. Vehicle height can be an issue with some trucks and that may require using a garage plan designed with 9' or 10' wall height instead of the usual 8'. With taller walls you can use taller garage door. Usually the wall height is about 12" greater than the door height to accommodate the header beam wall top plate above. The roof shape of a garage can have a great impact on your yard space and can be important in the effect of light, view and visual air or sky space. When reviewing garage plans one should probably evaluate where the garage can be placed and if its location looks good on that position. If the garage is visible simultaneously with the house then one can select a design that matches or compliments the house. Roof overhang length, soffit or eave detailing, siding, trim, roofing windows and doors can all be matched to the house if products are still available. If it's a much older home then you can consider using materials with similar scale, patterns, shapes and colors. Luckily, many products are now available, code compliant and readily available. If you look at our gallery of customer built garage plans you will see examples of excellent matching to existing homes.
