by Jay Behm - Garage plans with shop space can be used for many purposes and can add value to your property. Behm Design offers a large selection in many styles and shapes. These are shop garage plans with space designated for shop area separate from the garage area and can be closed off by separating wall from shop area. This is often done to protect from dust, noise, odors and isolation of activities. Behm Design garage shop plans have framed wall heights of 8'-1", 9',10' and , a few, 12'. Fundamentally, a ceiling height needs to be enough to stand up or flip over an 8' sheet of plywood or lumber board without hitting the ceiling. So recessed lights are better for lower of the ceiling heights. Garage plans which have the high ceilings become more important if you have high vehicles and/or use jacking. For extreme heights, as when using automotive lifts our automotive lift garage plans work well. In addition to framed wall height, foundation walls can be built above grade more than the 6" typically indicated. Adding a couple or three feet to floor-ceiling height is that easy - just another option.
